THE LAST MEAL
TEXT: 1 KINGS 17: 8-16
PREACHER: PASTOR J.T. KALEJAIYE
God will intervene in your situations and what you consider to be your last will be the beginning of the miraculous in Jesus’ name. .. The above passage is loaded with many revelations. There are blessings to receive and there are blessings to take home. According to the passage REVELATIONS There was a famine in the land. A time of famine is a time of dryness. It’s a time when AVAILABLE becomes DESIRABLE. It’s a time when people eat what they see and not what they desire. I have goodnews for you, Job 5:20 says, “In famine, He shall redeem thee from death and in war, from the power of the sword. Job 5:22 says “At destruction and famine, thou shalt laugh. God arranged a meeting between the widow and Elijah. It was not an ordinary meting, it was a divinely arranged meeting that provoked a change. After the widow encountered Elijah, her story changed. She moved out of the level of NOT enough to the level of MORE THAN enough. The widow believed the Elijah, the prophet and she prospered. Jehoshaphat said in II Chronicles 20:26b “believe in the Lord your God, so shall ye be established; believe His prophets, so shall ye prosper”. In Mark 9:23,
“Jesus said unto him, if thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth” The widow took care of Elijah. What does the Bible say about taking care of strangers? Matthew 25:43-45. God is the judge/He has the final say. The woman though she would die after eating her last meal but God said she would live after releasing the meal and she lived. Isaiah 55:8 says “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord”. God will reverse that ugly situation and you will have a better story to tell in Jesus’ name. The widow and Elijah have certain things in common; They both felt the impact /heat of famine They were in need. The widow needed more food, Elijah needed too needed food. They both acted under divine instructions. God instructed Elijah to relocate to Zarephath. God commanded the poor woman to entertain Elijah. In Genesis 18:1-14, Abraham entertained three strangers and he reaped a reward which money cannot buy. He moved from expectation to realization after he took care of those strangers. Hebrews 13:2 says “Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares”. Luke 6:38 says “give and it shall be given unto you good measure, pressed down and shaken together and running over shall men give unto your bosom. For with the same measure that mete withal it shall be given to you again”. There must be a casting before a catching; what you cast determines what you will catch. God knew that the widow was poor, yet He directed Elijah to her. God will direct your Elijah to you this month in Jesus’ name. if she had refused to give her last meal as instructed, her story would have been bitter and not better….. NOTE: “THERE IS NO RICH BEGGAR AND THERE IS NO POOR GIVER”
PRAYER POINTS

2. Father, please move me out of the class of NOT ENOUGH to the class of MORE THAN ENOUGH in Jesus’ name.
3. Father, please intervene in my situation and reverse the irreversible in Jesus’ name.
