Divine Encounter

TOPIC: DIVINE ENCOUNTER
TEXT: LUKE 5:1-10
PREACHER: PASTOR J.T. KALEJAIYE

Jesus desires to have an encounter with you. You can encounter Him either by “Divine Invitation” or by “Divine Visitation”. Divine invitation is further emphasized in Mathew 11:28.
The above passage reveals the life of Peter before and after he encountered Jesus.
Before he encountered Jesus, Peter was;
1.       A poor fisherman
2.       He was a failure
3.       His life was full of activities; his casting produced no catching
4.       His great efforts produced no result
5.       He had a bitter story to tell
6.       He was in the class of expectation.

After Peter encountered Jesus;
1.       God gave him a better story to tell
2.       He became productive
3.       His little efforts produced great results; God gave him a net-breaking and a boat-sinking catch.
4.       The unchangeable changer changed him from a fisherman to fishers of men.
5.       He moved from the class of expectation to the class of realization; Jesus exceeded his expectations.
All those who encountered Jesus, their lives never remain the same. Mark1:40-42, Mark 5:25-34, Luke 17:12-19.

Divine Visitation is also further emphasized in Revelation 3:20. When God visits;
1.       His presence provokes the miraculous: In 2 Samuel 6:11, Obed-edom accommodated the ark of God which represents God’s presence for 3 months. Within the space of 3 months, God blessed him and also turned him to a blessing.
2.       His presence provokes divine lamination/protection: Daniel 3, Isaiah 43:2.

The following can be done to provoke God’s visitation;
1.       Surrender to Him – Revelation 3:20
2.       Invite Him- John 2
3.       Fellowship with brethren- Matthew 18:20
4.       Praise Him – Psalm 22:3
