Personal Encounter

TOPIC: PERSONAL ENCOUNTER
TEXT: LUKE 19:1-10
PREACHER: PASTOR J.T. KALEJAIYE

·

Many people go to church. They even pray well but they are yet to have a personal encounter with Jesus. It can as well be likened to proximity without encounter.
·         Some people have spiritual tittles but they are far from Jesus. Such is likened to title
without mantle.
·         Many people bear Christian names. They claim to be Christians but Jesus doesn’t recognize them. Such are likened as grade without Grace.

HAVE YOU ENCOUNTERED JESUS?
1.       When you encounter Jesus, your life and attitude will change. 2 Corinthians 5:17
2.       Jesus desires an encounter with you. He wants to achieve this through two means/avenues; Divine Invitation (Matthew 11:28) and Divine Visitation (Revelations 3:20).

The above Bible passage reveals to us how Zachaeus encountered Jesus in Jericho.
Who was Zachaeus?
1.       He was chief among the publicans. In other words, he was a chief among sinners. Thank God there’s hope for any sinner that repents.
2.       He was a rich man. Thank God the rich can also be saved.
3.       He was a seeker. He desired to see Jesus.
NB: What you desire is what you acquire.
Proverbs 8:17, Isaiah 55:6, Matthew 6:33.
Satan too is a seeker according to 1 Peter 5:8.
4.       He did not allow his physical challenge (he was a very short man) to hinder him from having an encounter with Jesus. He did the ridiculous to provoke the miraculous (He climbed a Sycamore tree)
NB: Like Zacheaus, you must take an action before you see God in action.

Jesus came to seek and save that which was lost according to Luke 19:10.
Satan also is seeking the lost souls in order to destroy and devour them – 1 Peter 5:8.
Until you have a personal encounter with Jesus, you are a lost soul.
As a lost soul, you can be a victim or a victor depending on who finds you.
If Jesus finds you, He will save you but if the devil finds you, he will destroy you.

WHO WILL FIND YOU?
Like Zacheaus, make yourself available so that Jesus can find you. It doesn’t matter who you are, what you’ve done or what you are doing, Jesus seeks to save you. MAKE YOURSELF AVAILABE.
