The Merciful God
TOPIC: THE MERCIFUL GOD
PREACHER: PASTOR J.T. KALEJAIYE
Ephesians
2:4 tells us that God is rich in mercy.
Psalm 136
tells us that His mercy endures forever.
Psalm 62:12
says mercy belongs to God.
Psalm
9:15&16 also tells us about God’s mercy.
Mercy plays
a prominent role in the Heart of God.
Mercy
provokes the miraculous/it moves God to action.
Those who
cry for mercy always get results. Examples are below;
1.
In Luke 17:12-19; ten lepers encountered Jesus,
they all cried for mercy and all of them were cleansed.
2.
In Luke 18:10-14; Jesus told us a parable of a
Pharisee and a Publican who both went to the temple to pray. The Pharisee was
busy updating his spiritual CV. At the end, his prayers weren’t answered. While
the Publican asked for mercy, his prayer attracted divine attention and he went
home justified.
3.
In Matthew 15:21-28; a woman of Canaan was
troubled because her daughter was possessed by a demon. She stood in the gap by
going to Jesus on behalf of her daughter. She cried for mercy and before she
got home, her daughter was completely delivered.
NB: Distance
is not a barrier when the Merciful God is involved.
4.
In Mark 10:46-52; blind Bartimeus asked for
mercy. His cry attracted Jesus, after which his sight was restored
5.
In 2 Chronicles 20:20-25; Jehoshaphat and his
praise team sang and praised God saying “For His mercy endures forever”, God
intervened and grant them victory over their enemies.
6.
In Matthew 17:14-18; the father of a lunatic
went to Jesus and asked for mercy. After that, his child was cured that very
hour.
