Pastor J.T. Kalejaiye - The Outstanding Christians
TOPIC: THE OUTSTANDING CHRISTIANS
PREACHER: PASTOR J.T. KALEJAIYE
There are
standing Christians.
Among them
are outstanding ones.
Among the
outstanding ones are very few Christians that stand out.
The word
“Outstanding” means distinguished from others in excellence; while others are
crawling, the outstanding ones are flying.
We live in a
world compromise. Things are gradually falling apart. Limitation is the order
of the day. The world is full of attractions and distractions and they come in
attractive packages. – 1 Corinthians 10:12.
-
The lukewarm/bench warmers: These people are
neither cold nor warm – Rev. 3:16.
-
The Eye-Service: These people attend to duty
only when being watched – Col 3:22a.
-
The Title-chasers: These people are after titles
and they are willing to pay the price either in cash or kind and sometimes
both. They prefer grade to grace.
-
The Activity: These people do many
things/functions without productivity or success. They are the master of all
trade, master of none.
-
The Revenue: These people are after revenue and
not revelation. Their motto is “money”. 1 Tim 6:10.
-
The PHD: “Pull Him Down”; these people look to
damage reputation of others. Sometimes it could be as a result of envy, pride
or jealousy.
-
The Outstanding: These people are no longer in
the class of the rest; they moved to the class of the best.
Jesus had
many disciples, among those several disciples, he chose 12. People called them
the Apostles. Among those 12, Jesus chose Peter, James and John. Whenever Jesus
had important places to visit, those three always went him.
Jacob had 12
sons, among the 12 children, Joseph was chosen. Why Joseph?
Jesse had
many sons but David, the last born was preferred; God recommended him to be the
king. Why David?
Shedrach,
Meshach and Abednego were outstanding, unyielding and uncompromising. They
refused to bow; they stood for God.
If you do
not stand for something, you will fall for anything.
To be an
outstanding Christian, you must be willing to do the following;
1.
Focus on Jesus: Many eyes look but few eyes see.
If you can see the invisible, then you can do the impossible. In Matthew
14:25-31, Peter focused on Jesus and he did the impossible (he walked on
water), he began to sink when he lost focus. The weight of fear and doubt made
him start sinking. Are you still focusing on things ABOVE or you are after the
things ABROAD?
2.
Be Diligent and Committed: Proverbs 22:29. God
is not looking for Ability; He is looking for Availability. Are you available
for God? John 5:17.
3.
Be Divinely Connected: John 15:5b, 1
Samuel 2:9.
4.
Be Like Christ in Every Aspect: Let your life
advertise/preach Christ. Your life must reflect the character of Jesus.
5.
Embrace Prayer, Decree and Prophecy: Be
prayerful and watchful.
6.
You need a Leader as a Ladder: you need someone
who will counsel, rebuke, correct and give you a push. Elisha and Joshua were
outstanding because they had a leader in Elijah and Moses respectively. Who is
your leader?
