Pastor J.T. Kalejaiye - Let The Poor Breathe
Text: 1 Samuel 2:7
Preacher: Pastor J.T. Kalejaiye
The Lord makes poor and makes rich.
The poor shall never cease in the land - Deuteronomy 15:11.
But the good news is in 1 Samuel 2:8.
Who can be refer to as poor? What comes to mind is someone that has no money. We believe that someone is poor when they have no money. A poor doesn’t necessarily mean you have no money. You are poor when you lack goods things. You are poor if you are destitute of the necessary necessities of life.
Life has thought us that no condition is permanent. The poor can still become rich and the rich can still end up poor. My prayers is that we shall never have a better yesterday.
God can use the rich to bless the poor and God can use the poor to bless the rich. If you are rich help the needy. Don’t tell me you are rich because you worked harder or because you went to school. God makes rich and poor - Deuteronomy 8:17-18.
Let us learn to do good. Don’t help someone because you have something to benefit in return. Be nice to the people you meet on your way on because one day you will meet them again but certainly not where you left them. Be nice to the poor and the needy because you don’t know who will be a blessing to you in life.
Whether you believe it or not many blessings await those who are nice to the needy - Proverbs 11:25.
The poor shall never cease in the land; Therefore is it a command to help the poor and needy - Proverbs 21:13.
If you don’t help the poor, you won't get help from God - Psalm 41:1-2.
You are blessed if you consider the poor - Proverbs 19:17
Silver and Gold belongs to God. Do you know you can lend money to God? Giving to bless the poor means you are lending to God. And trust God; He will not give the same thing you gave, but with interest.
When you help the poor you are also helping yourself. When we say help the needy it doesn’t necessarily mean the beggar on the street. But those who are in need around you.
You are lending unto God and whatever you give to the needy, God says He will repay.
WHAT WE MUST NOT DO TO THE POOR..
1. You must not mock them.
If you mock them you are indirectly mocking God - Proverbs 17:5.
2. Don’t oppress them.
Remember you will give account to God for the way you treat others. Don’t treat them like rags - Proverbs 14:31. Whatever you are doing to the poor God is taking records.
3. Don’t despise them and don’t look down on them - Proverbs 14:21.
Do the right thing in life and prayers becomes easy. Maybe God deliberately planted that needy person around you to help them so He can also bless you. They are around you; in the church and around your neighborhood and families, help them.
