From Shame To Fame
TOPIC: FROM SHAME TO FAME
TEXT: MATTHEW 9:20-22
PREACHER: PASTOR J.T. KALEJAIYE
Shame and
fame are two different levels. Some people are still operating at the level of
shame while few people have moved to the level of fame. It is possible to move
from fame to shame and vise versa. God has the ability to relocate anyone
irrespective of the person’s background or status. Psalm 75:7 says God is the
judge. He can promote and He can demote e.g.
·
He moved Joseph from Prison to Palace
·
He moved David from the Bush to the Palace
·
He moved Peter from failure to success.
PRAYER: God
will move you from your present location or level to a higher/better level in
Jesus’ name.
The above
bible text tells us about a woman who had an issue of blood that consumed her
body and her purse. She co-existed with this reproach for 12yrs. The problem
affected her emotionally, martially, financially and physically. Mark 5:26 tells
me that the woman had spent all that she had and was nothing bettered but
rather grew worse. One day, she encountered Jesus and her condition changed
forever, her problem expired.
How did she overcome her problem?
1.
She went to Jesus for help: Psalm 121:2. All
those who went to Jesus for help were never disappointed. Blind Bartemeus went
to Jesus for help (Mark 10:46-52), a woman of Cannan went to Jesus for help
(Matt 15:21-28), a centurion went to Jesus for help (Matt 8:5-10). Jesus
assures us of help and rest in Matt 11:28.
2.
The woman desired healing and she acquired it:
she acquired what she desired. She said within herself, if I may touch His
garment, I shall be whole. Solomon desired wisdom and he acquired it, Elisha
desired double portion and he acquired it, Bartemeus desired restoration of
sight and he acquired it. This means that, what you desire is what you will
acquire. John 14:14, Numbers 14:38b. What do you desire?
3.
The woman touched the helm of the garment of
Jesus: You can touch Jesus through prayers and through praises. Paul and Silas
used prayers and Praise to touch Jesus, Jehoshaphat and his praise team used
praise to touch Jesus. Our offerings/gifts can also touch Jesus. In Luke 5,
Peter released his boat to Jesus before he got a net breaking and a boat
sinking catch. Your weeping/emotion can touch Jesus. In Luke 7:11-15, a widow’s
weeping touched Jesus and there was a divine intervention. Our hospitality can
touch the Lord. Abraham was hospitable, he entertained some visitors and he got
a result. Use what you have for God and He will give you what you need.
4.
The woman believed/she had faith in Jesus: Faith
provokes the miraculous, faith is medicinal. Jesus said to the woman “daughter,
be of good comfort, thy FAITH had made thee whole” and immediately, the woman
was made whole. Mark 11:22 Mark 9:23, Hebrews 11:6.
The woman’s faith was commended and rewarded:
She received her healing and moved from shame to fame. In the bible, those who had faith in the Lord
were commended and rewarded. Matt 15:21-28, Matt 8:10, Matt 8:13
