Pastor J.T. Kalejaiye- Multiple Encounters

TOPIC: MULTIPLE ENCOUNTERS
TEXT: MATTHEW 14:23-31
PREACHER: PASTOR J.T. KALEJAIYE

To encounter is to come across or run into.
It is possible to have a single encounter; it is also possible to have multiple encounters.
According to the passage, Peter had multiple encounters;

1.       He had an encounter with FAITH: Peter walked on the water; this became possible because Jesus told him to do so and he believed Jesus – Mark 9:23. Nothing is impossible when Jesus is involved.
*Faith can suspend some Natural laws: e.g, the law of gravity was suspended for Peter to walk on the water.
In the Bible, Jesus commended and rewarded those that demonstrated faith. (Matt 8:5-10, Matt 9:20-22).
*Faith provokes the miraculous (Matt 21:21).
*Faith provokes answered prayers (Matt 21:22).
*Faith is medicinal (Mark 10:52).

2.       Peter encountered FEAR: Fear is a dangerous weapon the devil against the children of God; fear provokes limitation. The word of God tells us in several verses “FEAR NOT”. We are only permitted to fear the Lord. (Prov. 29:25b, 2Timothy 1:7, 1John 4:18).

3.       Peter Encountered DOUBT: Doubt can make prayers go into the voicemail (Matt 14:31b, James 1:5-7).

4.       Peter encountered DEATH: but Jesus rescued him.

5.       Peter encountered JESUS: The encounter with Jesus provoked deliverance.

Before Jesus rescued him, Peter made a desperate cry saying, “Lord Save Me”. If he had kept quiet, death would have swallowed him. A closed mouth is a closed destiny. Mark 10:46-52, Luke 17:12-19, John 11:43.
