TOPIC: COME BACK TO GOD

TEXT: LUKE 15:11-24

PREACHER: PASTOR J.T. KALEJAIYE

This is an appeal; it is also a command to make a U-turn and return to your source/father/maker.

The passage tells us about a certain man who had two sons; the younger son is our area of focus. He told his father to give him the portion of goods that falls to him; he got what he desired and left the house. From the story, three major terminologies were discovered; 1. Connection 2. Disconnection and 3. Reconnection.

He was known as a SON when he was connected to his father/source.

He became a LOST SON when he was disconnected from his father.

He became a LOST BUT FOUND SON when he returned home to reconnect with his father.

When he was connected to his source/father, he enjoyed some benefits;

1.       He had several opportunities and privileges.

2.       He had many servants serving him.

3.       He was eating the desirable and not the available.

4.       His father made the desirable available and affordable for him.

5.       His father loved and cared for him.

However, he made a costly mistake; he disconnected from his source/father. “A river that disconnects from its source will soon dry up”. He asked for his tomorrow and his father gave him. He left the house with his inheritance; He lived a very extravagant life. After a very short while;

1.       His wealth/resources diminished and eventually dried up.

2.       He became an object of pity.

3.       He moved from grace to grass.

4.       He was alone and lonely.

5.       He became an employee under a farmer; things got so bad that he tried to eat the food meant for pigs but he was denied.

One day, he took a decision to return to his father; he made a U-turn. Contrary to his expectation, his father accepted him as a son and not as a servant/slave. After he returned/reconnected to his father/source;

1.       He was forgiven.

2.       He was celebrated and decorated.

3.       He was entertained.

4.       He became an object of envy.

5.       He found favor.

Brethren are you still connected or you are already disconnected? Like the lost son, please make a decision to return to daddy (God), make a U-turn because God is ever ready to accept you as His child.

Tomorrow may be too late. “Come back to God”.

PRAYER POINTS

1.       Father, I cry unto you today, please be merciful unto me.

2.       Father, please reconnect me and let me enjoy full benefits of being your child

3.       Father, Please give me the grace to hate the world in Jesus’ name.
