Pastor J.T. Kalejaiye - Substitution

TOPIC: SUBSTITUTION
PREACHER: PASTOR J.T. KALEJAIYE

To substitute means to replace or interchange or exchange.
To substitute is to put someone or something in place of something or someone else.
Proverbs 11:8, Psalm 9:15 Psalm 57:6.
There are several biblical
examples of substitution;
1.       Abraham: In Genesis 22:1-18, God told Abraham to offer his son, Isaac as a burnt offering to Him; it was a test of faith. Abraham was willing to obey God but God provided a ram as a substitute.
2.       Daniel: in Daniel 6, the high and mighty came together to establish a royal statute/decree that whosoever shall ask a petition  of any God or man for thirty days shall be cast into the lions den.  Daniel wouldn’t compromise his faith so he was reported to the King and cast into the then as the decree stated but God preserved Daniel by shutting the mouth of the lions. According to Daniel 6:24, all of Daniel’s accusers replaced Daniel in the lion’s den.
3.       Mordecai: In Esther 7, Haman hated Mordecai; he wanted to destroy all the Jews. He prepared a gallow for Mordecai but God intervened and rescued Mordecai. Haman was hanged on the same gallows he had prepared for Mordecai.
4.       Shedrach Meshach and Abednego: According to Daniel 3, these three refused to bow to the golden image. The king ordered that they should be bound and cast into the burning fiery furnace. But contrary to the king’s expectation, those who were assigned to cast them into the fire were roasted by the same fire. Proverbs 6:27, Isaiah 54:15.
5.       You and Me: God formed us perfectly; Satan came and he deformed us. death penalty was waiting for us but God sent His only begotten son, Jesus to die in our stead for us to escape death. John 3:16
